South African agriculture is relatively developed with a high degree of modernization. It has 19.04 million square hectares of arable land, accounting for 15.6 percent of the total land area. There are 1.65 million people who depend on agriculture and related industries for their livelihoods in South Africa, accounting for 10% of the total labor force. With the high degree of marketization and strong competitiveness, agricultural products produced in South Africa are not only sold locally, but also exported in large quantities around the world and to aid other African countries.
