The Transformation and Development of Green Energy in South Africa
In the realm of green energy, cooperation between South Africa and China has yielded remarkable achievements. Next year, construction of a large – scale solar cell module assembly plant will commence in Mpumalanga Province.
This project is highly in line with South Africa’s overall energy transition strategy. According to South Africa’s Integrated Resources Plan 2025 (IRP 2025), the country plans to add 105 million kilowatts of generating capacity by 2039 and is expected to make a massive investment of 2.2 trillion rand (approximately $126 billion), with solar photovoltaic playing a crucial role.
The combination of China’s advanced technology and manufacturing capabilities with South Africa’s enormous market potential and policy support is jointly propelling South Africa to accelerate its march towards a clean energy future.
