The South African automotive market is undergoing a transformation. Who’s at the forefront? Chinese brands! According to data from the NAAMSA, the market share of Chinese brands in the local new – car market continues to expand.
According to Paulina Mamogobo, the chief economist of the NAAMSA, it is expected that by 2026, China’s auto sales will increase by more than 25%, meaning approximately 7 million additional vehicles will be sold in 2026.
The growth of Chinese brands in the South African market is not only reflected in sales volume but also in the increased consumer acceptance. Over the past few years, Chinese automobiles have won the favor of an increasing number of South African consumers by the high cost – effectiveness, rich configurations, and continuously improving local sales and service networks.
